Carol Wallace, herself an amputee, addresses several issues affecting amputees, and adds support for those who feel the are going through it alone. 2) That The National Amputee fund is available to assist amputees with limited funds to obtain prosthesis. Their Mission statement is as follows, "The National Amputee Fund was created to assist amputees who demonstrate a financial need to gain access to prosthetic devices through partnerships with prosthetist's who will donate limbs or by paying the treatment costs directly with funds raised through corporate sponsorship, grants and private donations." 3) That The National Organization On Disability has launched a new web site located at http://www.nod.org. "I encourage everyone with a computer and a modem to take advantage of this wonderful new technology. The web site will provide increased opportunities for people - both with and without disabilities - to get involved," said Alan Reich, President of N.O.D.
4) That there is an organization called "People with disAbilities Uganda (Pwd)" What is People with disabilities Uganda (Pwd) Pwd is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan health care and disability rights organization. Our Vision is healthy lives for the people of Uganda. Our Mission is to achieve this vision of a healthy Uganda through two primary paths. The first path emphasizes personal health, promoting access to affordable, quality health care for everyone, particularly children and people with disabilities.
