ENABLING ROMANCE celebrates the desire for romance and intimacy while shattering sexual stereotypes and debunking popular myths about people with physical diabilities. This book is divided into three parts, the first two of which are enriched with anecdotal information provided by individuals with dis-abilities and their partners. Part one emphasizes that sexual satisfaction for people with disabilities can be a reality and discusses issues such as: developing a positive self-concept; intimate relationships. between . people with physical disabilities and those without; sex without partners; assistance from personal care attendants; sexual variations and alternatives; and reproduction and contraception. Part Two offers information about living and loving with specific disabilities, cerebral palsy, blindness and visual impair-ment, deafness, and hearing impairment, and amputation. Each chapter ends with an organization listing relevant to the disability discussed. Part Three is comprised of four appendices providing information about organizations, services, catalogs, and magazines. With this guide, people with physical disabilities will discover how a positive self-image and a sensitive and caring partner can lead to a rich and rewarding love and sex life. It is recommended reading for all adults with physical disabilities and the people who care for them. The cost is $15.95 and should be available in bookstores now.
